Making life better for people in poverty

In Scotland, 1 in 5 people live in poverty – their incomes barely support their basic needs like eating, heating, and housing. Living like this affects people’s mental and physical health, and can also greatly impact a child’s education and outcomes. We exist to make their everyday life, a little better.

Our goal is to make life better for people living in these circumstances – supporting them with where they are now, and giving them tools, help and advice to get them out of poverty where possible. Sadly, this situation is nothing new in Scotland, and in recent years there’s been little to no progress. But together, we can make life better for people who are impacted by poverty and hardship.

How we help people in need

Our goal is to make everyday life better for people in poverty, so we focus on providing care and support that’s free, easily accessible, and will solve the problems they face. The services we deliver are inspired by the hospitality sector - as that’s where the idea for our charity began.

Connection and Community

Through various community programmes for children and adults, we give people a warm and safe place to relax a meal or cuppa. These sessions also support community and connection, which is essential for people’s health and wellbeing.

Hot
meals

In addition to serving meals at our community hub, we work in partnership with other charities and social organisations to distribute hot meals to those in need. Since we started a few years ago, we have provided over 3,000 meals to the homeless.

Happy experiences

For us, simply meeting people’s basic needs isn’t enough. Everyone should experience some joy in life. That’s why from gifting families tickets for days out, to hosting fun Christmas parties for children, we’re committed to creating happy experiences for those who can’t often afford them.

Care &
Support

From support and advice on topics like mental health and financial struggles, to helping people secure employment - we’re here to care for people while they navigate the impact that poverty and hardship can have.

See what we’ve been up to…

As a small charity, the team processing fundraising and donations are the same people delivering vital services to communities. We’re hands on, so we know how every penny generously donated is spent and can personally see the impact.

Spreading joy to children at Christmas.

Since we were founded in summer 2023, we have hosted Christmas parties for over 6,000 children across central Scotland. Through gifts and donations, we were able to give them a Christmas to remember – with a meal, dancing and games, visit from Santa and a gift to take home. We’re already planning our dates for next Christmas. It’s just one of the ways we spread joy to those experiencing hardship. They cherish these moments, and it’s our way of ensuring children affected by poverty, don’t miss out on some christmas joy. We work with Schools and public organisations to identify and support children in deprived communities. But to ensure no child feels singled out, we will invite full classes or year groups so they can experience this fun with all of their friends.

We’re here for the community

We host weekly FREE community sessions in the North Lanarkshire area. These include parent and baby sessions, adult groups and youth groups. Every session includes access to food and drink, ensuring anyone experiencing food poverty can be supported.

100% of funds we raise go directly to helping people in Scotland.

We’re a small charity who keep costs and overheads to a minimum, ensuring any money we raise goes directly to helping the people who need it. Our team salaries are paid for by Manorview Hotels and the National Lottery Fund. This means you can be assured that every penny you fundraise and donate is making a meaningful difference to people in Scotland.

How you can help

Fundraising

Whether you’re walking, running, holding a bake sale or coffee morning, or doing something daring and adventurous, fundraising for Manorview Foundation would help us reach more people and have more impact.

Donating

We’d be grateful for any donation you can make – no matter the amount. £5 can pay for a child to have a meal at our community hub.

Gifting

We’re grateful to receive gifts of goods and services to support our charity. This has previously included warm clothes for kids, bedding and high chairs for babies, and food to prepare meals for people.

Working in partnership

We can’t make a difference all on our own. We are grateful and delighted to work with like-minded organisations and charities. This helps us reach people in need, and gather our resources to make a bigger impact.

If you have an organisation that’s committed to supporting people in hardship or poverty, and are interested in working alongside us, please get in touch.

Our story so far…

Back in October 2025, we reflected on our beginnings, our biggest achievements so far, and where we want to go next. Watch our short video to understand how we started, why we exist and how we make life better for people in poverty.

Please note that the numbers quoted were accurate at time of filming, and we’re delighted to have reached even more people in need since then.

About Us

Manorview Foundation was born out of deep frustration that there are still people living in Scotland who experience daily poverty and miss out on so much of life. Our organisation was founded by Manorview Hotels – who wanted to extend the warm hospitality that hotel guests experience, to people who can’t afford it.

Since then, Manorview Foundation has become its own registered charity, but we are thankful to have the ongoing support of the hotel group, who volunteer time, expertise and spaces to help us. The business remains a main supporter of the charity, and help pay for charity team salaries to ensure all the funds we raised can go directly to helping people in need.

By doing so, they help ensure that the fundraising we do can be used to directly support the people who need it.
